La Fiesta Taqueria

LA FIESTA TAQUERIA

Having grown up in Los Angeles, where Mexico is a mere 2 1/2 hours away, it's been a personal mission of mine to find an authentic Mexican restaurant in Sacramento that doesn't break the bank. Lo and behold, La Fiesta Taqueria in Midtown has been discovered!

Jenna was ecstatic to show me this location, having been told by a friend it was the best Mexican restaurant in town. When we first approached the restaurant, I was a little hesitant given the extremely urban surroundings, but with empty bellies and a grave determination, we stepped into La Fiesta Taqueria.

As soon as we entered, we were swept away to Mexico. The restaurant is nicely decorated with the attributing green, red and white ensembles. Not only is very clean and the staff very welcoming, a giant wall menu greets you with an endless amount of options at very affordable prices. They have anywhere from authentic stuffed burrittos to Mexican seafood platters. Deciding on a dish alone took a little extra effort, especially with such appealing prices.

Jenna decided on the carne asada tacos while I went with the tostada salad with pulled chicken. During the short time we waited for the food to arrive, we eagerly tucked into the endless supply of fresh tortilla chips and the countless salsa options. But as soon as the aroma of our food approached, the chips were forgotten. I have to admit I didn't have extreme expectations, especially for something as bland as a salad and ordinary tacos. I immediately knew my suspicions were dispelled! The tacos were delivered on display with the fresh ingredients scintillating the aroma. After a digging through the first layer of my lettuce leaves, I discovered a treasure trove of delectable meat, beans, and cheese.

Alas, I believe my Mexican hunting days are over! (Mexican food hunting that is). The name fits the restaurant twofold-a fiesta in the mouth and pocket!
